well let's see the best Indian Restaurant according to the Readers is Natraj's Tandoori in Tustin, the fast food chain.

What!

This is like when they voted krock as the best radio station.
I mean this is OC Weekly for Chrissake.

  1. Best Pho
    Pho Dakao

WTF? Pho is, at it's essence, BEEF NOODLE SOUP.

    Best Com Tam
    Com Tam Tran Quy Cap

    No arguments.

    1. I read the Natraj thing with total incredulity, too. It's sort of like the OC Register's readers' poll picking Pick Up Stix as the Best Chinese Restaurant. The other thing I couldn't understand was First Class Pizza as Best Pizza. Granted, First Class ain't bad, but come on!

I grew up in OC. My relatives like to go eat at the Claim Jumper! How could you expect anything different? In fact, most reader's polls tend to have crummy results. Let's face it, most people like Pizza Hut, Taco Bell etc.

I will say that the reviews in OC Weekly are usually pretty good. I"ve found some great ethnic restaurants there. In fact, one of my favorite Pho Bo restaurants is Quan Hop, which I read about in OC Weekly.

I haven't been to Pho Dakao, but I don't know if it deserves a "WTF". Most of my experiences with Pho are with beef, but a trip to Hanoi turned me on to Pho Ga and it was fantastic. At least they are trying to mix it up a bit. Should they just keep plugging the same places year after year?

Why does anyone care what an OCWeekly poll says anyway? If I need to find a tattoo parlor or detox center, OC Weekly may be helpful. But this poll is extolling the virtues of Ding Dongs and beer (literally). Enough said.
