Restaurant in Hamburg for anniversary dinner?

We'll be celebrating our anniversary while in Hamburg for the Christmas break, and are looking for a restaurant. Romantic, great wine list, excellent menu, expensive is OK. We care more about the food than the "scene". One of us isn't a red meat eater, if that matters.

We've heard recommendations for Au Quai and Zippelhaus. I was excited about Das Weisse Haus, but hear it may not be as good as it used to be. Does anyone have any experience at these three, or a recommendation for someplace else? Thanks very much.

In Hamburg Thomas Martin at Louis C. Jakob would be my choice for that occasion. Spectacular view over the Elbe, a warm and welcoming hotel. Just very good.

      Hi Ingo,

Good to see you back here. I've been away for a while overseas, so haven't had a chance to login here.

      Try Le Canard: http://www.lecanard-hamburg.de/

We knew the Chef Ali Güngörmüs before he moved to Hamburg. My wife interacted with him and his old restaurant almost daily.

We went there a couple of years ago and have been keeping track of him - he's been steadily improving: http://www.lecanard-hamburg.de/en/ali...
