Green Bean Casserole - Redux

I'm the Thanksgiving maven for my family. I'm considering adding the Green Bean Casserole Redux recipe from this site -- see http://www.chow.com/recipes/10888 -- to please my comfort food loving family members. Any thoughts on whether this could be assembled the morning of Thanksgiving and baked later just before the meal. Of course, I would reserve frying the shallots until close to cooking time. Thanks for your input.

    I don't see why not, as long as the ingredients are all at the same temp. when you mix them. If you mix warm or hot with cold, it might get watery, although you could just stir it well before baking. Just make sure your beans are patted dry. It seems that this is a pretty sturdy recipe.

        That recipe sounds fabulous, I may just take your/my advice and make it also. I have made green bean casserole all the way from scratch except for the onions and it was great, never want to go back to the canned stuff

      i haven't made this recipe, but would love to contribute that Cooks Illustrated's bean recipe is fantastic too...
