Lanzhou hand-pulled noodles arrive in Bensonhurst

At long last, a hand-pulled noodle restaurant has come to Bensonhurst at the corner of 18th Avenue & 72nd Street. The proprietors also own the place on 8th Avenue & 60th Street. (I once asked them if they'd ever open up on 18th Avenue and they kind of laughed and said "maybe.")

My wife and I went in on opening day (this past Saturday) to get some soup and watch the noodle master practice his craft. He slapped that dough so hard on his workstation that it startled the cooks and owner. We got the roasted duck and fish ball soups with an order of heavenly fried dumplings, and all came to a whopping total of $14.25.

Dim sum, Chinese bakeries, Cantonese BBQ, Sichuan, and now hand pulled noodles. It's Chinese food heaven on 18th Avenue.
