Adiós Orlando's Best Taco Shop
With heavy heart I have to report on the demise of Beto's in Casselberry. After an hour drive for a nice Sunday lunch, we arrived to find a new restaurant where Beto's use to be. With trepidation, we entered Pancho's and immediately noticed that the place had been cleaned up and nice new booths installed.
At first, the new menu looked promising because of the addition of a few items of interest such as sopes and empanadas. At first I thought that those were very good additions.
Then as our eyes focused closely, we noticed a few additions that caused a shiver to run up our spines. The new owners have added a breakfast section under which is a listing listing for one made with American Cheese. They've also added a section for, and I cringe at even having to write this, chimichanga's. What are to doing I wondered. I also noticed that under the listing for the taco specials, they wrote that all tacos came with lettuce and cheese.
I should have run right there and then I looked at my wife and said "we'll never know unless we try". So we walked up to the register and I ordered a chicken burrito. We don't have any chicken she said (strike one, she said chicken instead of shicken). My wife asked for a taco with lengua (surely they won't put lettuce and cheese on that I thought). However, they had no lengua.
With a sad heart and empty belly, we turned and fled. One the way out, we noticed a blackboard with one of the days specials: Chicken fingers with fries and a soda. That says all you need to know about Pancho's.
I only hope the location on OBT hasn't changed.
