Which one? Queen Mary, Ritz Carlton, Getty,Warehouse,Shanghai Reds for brunch?

Which one for a Sunday buffet? Good food, no kids. Thanks in advance for any help here. Perused boards, nothing lately.

  1. The Langham (formerly Ritz Carlton) in Pasadena is fabulous. The Queen Mary is kinda fun, especially if you spend the night there, but it is most definitely NOT about the food. I don't even known what Shanghai Reds or the Warehouse are, but I tend to doubt that they could measure up to the Langham, whatever they are.

I would agree with everyone else. The Ritz Carlton is absolutely the best...I had the Champange Sunday Brunch there for my 21st birthday...and let me tell of the most memorable meals ever. The service is fantastic and the food is even better...they has three different types of caviar! I went to the Laguna Niguel location, but I'm sure that the quality extends to the other locations as well. I would not go to the Queen Mary. The location is cool, but the food's only so-so.

    2. The Warehouse and Shanghai Red's are okay, but nothing to write home about. Which Ritz Carlton? Do you mean Jer-ne in the Ritz Carlton in Marina Del Rey? I had non-buffet brunch there and the food was very good, but I felt like there are better places at lower price points. I've never eaten at the Getty or on the Queen Mary. In general, I'm not a fan of buffet brunches--I prefer to order off the menu.

      1. if you sit on the patio at shanghai reds - that's nice. but food is average at best. the warehouse also does not have great food - and i don't think they are waterfront either. i haven't eaten at the others.

shanghai reds is not about the food, it is about the quantity.
it is an ayce setup, and full of people/families that are trying to stuff themselves with a week's worth of food in the space of that one meal.
not only are the people stuffed with food, but the restaurant, during these orgy periods, is stuffed with people.
the view is nice, the variety of food served is good, the quality of food served is, as you stated, average.

        2. I personally would do the Ritz. GREAT burgers.

          1. I don't think the Restaurant at the Getty (Brentwood) is a buffet. Please correct me if I am mistaken.

If you're interested in Marina del Rey, I would heartily recommend Cafe del Rey, probably the best restaurant in the area.-- nice setting too.

                Neither Getty offers a buffet.
