Hi!

Any recommendations for a *good* Italian restaurant that has take-out or take-out catering (informal) just east of Golden Gate Park with either pick-up or delivery? I need dinner for 10 in the early afternoon, a couple Saturdays from today.

Thank you so much for the help!

Define good or to what extent the menu requirements are...old school, high end, etc.

I'd look by neighborhood, depending on what part of GG Park.

If you're talking East of GG Park, the Haight and Panhandle...I don't think there's any decent Italian.

In the Inner Sunset, there's Park Chow that serves some Italian dishes and Pasta Pomodoro (a local chain). In the Richmond, there's Gaspare's (old school, Geary/20th), Mescolanza (Clement and 24th). I've only had take out from Pasta Pomodoro, it was okay. All the other places are good (but not special) but I really don't know how their stuff will stand up to take-out.

Don't know if it's still there, or if it's still as good as it was when I was growing up in the Sunset, but Pasquale's Pizzeria at 8th & Irving was always my favorite. Classic Italian.

Pasquale's is still here, and I think it's just as good as it was when I/we were growing up in the Sunset. This is a great choice is you want to feature pizza, some salad and simple apps.

But I would suggest considering Delissio (market, bakery, and catering). If you live east of the GGP, you may be familiar with their location on Broderick ( (between Oak and Fell). They deliver or you can pick up, and they can get as high end or casual as you request. They have lots of Italian choices (eggplant parmesan is super, and great lasagne too) but can do just about anything. The cakes are great.
