I can't remember where now, but I thought I read/heard something about a West African restaurant opening up in the next few months in Boston. Any help, Hounds?

Latest I've seen, from the Herald's Turning Tables 8/28:
"Marie Claude-Mendy will appear before the Boston Licensing Board Wednesday for approval of a beer and wine license for Teranga, the Senegalese restaurant that she hopes to open at 1746 Washington St. near Massachusetts Avenue in the South End".

South End? Damn, it's probably going to be trendy and expensive. Why can't we just get some everyday holes-in-the-walls :(

The spot near the corner of Mass & Washington next to Laz's Cafe that used to be a low rent Chinese take out is slated to be a Senegalse restaurant. I was losing hope that it would ever happen as no work was done in there for months but recently there has been work going on in there though it looks a ways off.

Yep, I always talk up Bytes on this board whenever I can. Mohammed is a great cook. If he can't whip up the chops for you, maybe he could direct you to a place that can.

Too bad Providence isn't closer - plenty of West African restaurants there (there is a large Liberian population).

If anyone's up for a ChowDown in Providence (let's say for a Sat or Sun lunch or early dinner before it gets too cold...) - we could carpool and train down - please contact me via my profile/email and I'll help organize it! Digga, do you have some suggestions for a place? Pls email me, or post on NE board!

Please supply the names/addresses of the West African (especially Senegalese, and any others) restaurants in Rhode Island.

Latest news--Teranga is now open (corner of Mass Ave and Washington across from Seiyo). Beautifully redone inside. And the prices are very reasonable--most expensive entree is $17. We haven't been yet but are hoping to try next week. And I noted Senegalese lambchops.
