Deep fried crispy shredded chilli beef

Coming from the UK, this is one chinese dish that I really miss, and cannot find here in Boston. If anybody knows of a good restaurant in the Boston area that serves this dish, please let me know!

    It sounds like it could be similar to a spicy dry-fried beef dish common in Sichuanese cuisine. Maybe it would be on the menu at Sichuan Garden or Fuloon?

      the only thing i can think of is the Yangtze River Beef at Yangtze River in Lexington.
      not shredded, but more like Proper Chips, only of beef.

      Perhaps similar to the Smoky Hot Shredded Beef w/ Cayenne Chilli @ Sichuan Garden, Brookline and Woburn.

        That's what I was thinking also, though it's not deep fried. It's good though, so maybe the OP will find something new to love!

        A personal favorite: Crispy Spicy Tangerine Beef at Chef Chang's House in Brookline. (Also not shredded.)

          Isn't this called "orange beef" at most places?

          Sounds like the OP's dish is different if it's shredded...

          I have been looking for this dish too. In Washington DC, it's a fairly common. There, it's usually called Crispy Shredded Beef or Crispy Fried Shredded Beef. The beef is really crunchy (if done right) and thin like match-sticks. The dish usually has shredded celery, carrots, and scallions in it. The sauce is somewhat sweet, but it has a little bite to it.

          Hope this rings a bell and someone knows of a place that makes it.

            I checked out this thread because we had something like this for the first time, but with chicken, at Fuloon in Malden, which we tried thanks to our Chowhound enthusiasts on this board. It was so good. If not on the menu maybe they could prepare some this way.

            You can get excellent shredded spicy beef at Chung Shin Yuan on California St. in Newton

              Pretty sure it is the same as the Shredded Dry Beef w/ Chili Sauce at Sichuan Gourmet in Framingham. Good stuff.

                I just had this last night at the relatively new Sichuan Palace in Chelmsford. Very good.
