drinks near Le Bernardin (155 W 51st St btwn 6th & 7th)

  • 7

Having dinner at 8:30pm this Friday, would like to have a cocktail before, without the ruckus of Times Square. Extensive beer list a plus. Any suggestions? Thank you!!

  1. Actually, the bar area inside of Le Bernardin is not too bad. Don't think they have an extensive beer list though. But they do have the best, best, BEST cheddar sticks as a complimentary snack. They're cheesy, flaky, and shatter like a good croissant.

    1. How about the Bar at The Modern. The only downside is that it may be crowded.

They actually make decent cocktails at the bar at Le Bernardin.. but it might not have the pre-dinner atmosphere you want.

Not for beer, but The Old King Cole Bar at the St. Regis (55th & 5th) would be a good pre Bernandin spot - you will be dressed, after all. Whiskey sour on the sour side for me.

        1. There's the Royalton, which admittedly doesn't quite get you away from the Times Square ruckus. I really like the library at Town, that upper-level area, I guess above the lobby of the Chambers Hotel. The table area off the bar area is also nice, but a bit noisier. If the weather is warm enough you could go to the roof of The Peninsula (used to be called Pen-Top, I don't recall the new name offhand).

Rosie O'Grady's, same street, corner of 7th Ave. they have a nice downstairs bar, I think with a fireplace and comfortable chairs, think they have a pretty good beer list too.
