Noticed this Caribbean style restaurant while driving down Don Mills. Any info would be great. Have a taste for some rice and peas and some good jerk.
Thanks

  1. There are few Island Food locations through-out the city. I usually frequent the one on King St near Dufferin. IF is more known for their Rotis rather than rice and peas. And their jerk is only so-so. Having said that, the roti are very good, personal favourites are the boneless goat and the vegetable.

Not a big fan of this location... I've had everything on the menu and I only really like the oxtail, but small portions. I don't end up eating most of the rice and peas unless they're covered in gravy, and the coleslaw portions are tiny!!

    2. They are all owned by one family, which will limit expansion, but seems to ensure quality. The jerk is very good and moist, and with the house-made hot sauce can put up quite a fire. Good curries as well. Definitely worth stopping, but if you're thinking about lunch, expect to line up some days.

No need to line up on Don Mills, as it is usually empty.
Never could comprehend why they chose this location.
Their Roti is good, but downtown I prefer Roti Lady

I frequent this location and must say that during weekday lunch hours, we can easily wait in line for 5 - 10 minutes.

I have never been there for lunch, so I am happy to hear that they are successful.
Whenever I drive over in the evening, they are empty.

      2. I frequent the location at King and Dufferin. Roti is fabulous. My favourite is the Channa (chickpea) and Spinach mixed. Yum!!

I was at the Don Mills shop last month and there was a pretty good line-up, maybe 10-15 deep.

Good jerk, and rotis, great spot for a spicy lunch.

        2. They used to be down the street from us and we had their rotis all the time.

          Good stuff.

          1. You should drive a bit farther down Don Mills to the Flemingdon Plaza (between Eglinton and Overlea)...near the middle of the plaza (not visible from Don Mills) is the Caribbean Plams restaurant...great rotis and jerk chicken....they have a very nice lunch buffet. I always find them very satisfying.
