Casual work lunch in East Village

Hi Manhattan hounds,

I"m looking for something pretty specific: a casual spot for a networking lunch in the East Village or Lower East Side. We require carefully sourced ingredients (sustainable seafood, local produce, humane meat), turned into tasty dishes that don't cost too much. Ssam Bar is an option, but it might be too out there for this crowd. Please advise!

What about Prune, Five Points, or Back Forty?

Most of the sustainable places I know are kinda "crunchy granola", oh wait - there's Quartino on Bleecker (near Elizabeth). Go there!

If Ssam is too out there, then Prune might be, too. It's also a little small and cramped in there. I'd do Five Points or Back Forty if the whole localvore/farm to table/Greenmarket eating thing is a priority. Too bad Hearth isn't open for lunch!

I don't think Back Forty is open for lunch. It has brunch on Sunday though.

        Hi ButterMilky,

Perhaps you can try The Smith on 3rd Ave. Look at their "committment":

Nothing earth-shattering but solid good food and reasonably priced.
