Game in NYC

Anyone know of any restaurants in NYC that serve game in the fall?

Or perhaps a better question: Do people eat game in NYC? Loved it in Europe during the season, but I've rarely seen it on menus here in New York, only a guinea hen or venison here and there...

The squab at Corton is pretty great.

In some restaurants, game dishes are seasonal specials that are not on the regular menus.

Just saw that Savoy also has pheasant on their menu at the moment--

If NYC includes Brooklyn, you should try Henry's End in Brooklyn Heights. Their Wild Game Festival runs from October to March. http://henrysend.com/samplegamemenu.htm

if you really love game, take the trip out to bk to try henry's end. its cozy and delicious and has the most extensive game selection i've seen anywhere in the city.

I'm definitely going to check it out - it will hurt the walletbook much less than daniel's wild game festival (though I'd love to go one day!), and I never knew that rattlesnake qualified as wild game!

How crowded does henry's end get? Are reservations essential?

We've always gotten a walk-in table earlyish (6:30 or so) on weekday nights, but it is often full when we leave. It is a fairly small place, but they do pack people in.

They only take reservations for 3 or more at Henry's End...for 2 you shouldn't have a problem during the week or early on the weekend.
                    Don't miss the turtle soup.

Daniel always features game on the fall menu. Also, their 4th Annual Fall Game Feast will take place on October 29th. Details on the website.

Felidia features game in the fall and winter. And it's a wonderful, warm place for dining at any time, imho.

Yes--I've had some good game dishes (of the fowl variety) at Peasant.
Picholine is supposed to be good for game as well (I had fish the last time I went)...

I just went to Picholine's website and see that they have Wild Scottish Game on the menu, thanks!

Picholine is wonderful whatever you order, but it is particularly good for game. You will not be disappointed.

They have something like five different types of wild game on a regular basis, ranging from mild to gamey. (I love the word of warning about buckshot, btw. :)

Ouest on the UWS also has a few game offerings, including wild rabbit (very good) and squab.
