Cheap Eats Around Austin Film Festival Venues

Helind Oct 14, 2008 10:22 AM

Looking for, inexpensive and good, places to eat near Austin Film Festival venues. Most of the venues are downtown near the 6th Street and Congress area. The festival is also showing films at the Dobie @ Guadalupe & 21st, and the Arbor on Great Hills Trail. Don't leave out coffee houses that have good sandwiches and salads. I looked for some previous threads on cheap downtown. I know I've seen some. If you know of any, please include them as well. Thanks

There's a new mobile food truck at 5th and Brazos, and OMG they have the best empanadas since grandma. It's big, it's red, it's quick, it's cheap and I think it's called mmmpanadas. Their hours on the weekends are 10pm on, so best pick one up after a film. You can even buy a few extra for breakfast. I recommend Green Chile Chicken, Spinach mushroom--it has pine nuts+goat cheese, or Pumpkin. have fun!

You can get the $1.99 burger and fries from 4-6:30, and then again after 9, at McCormick & Schmick's on 4th & Congress (there's one up north somewhere, too, but I don't know if it is near the Arbor thing).

That sounds like a great deal. I hope I have a chance to check that out.

micksgirl, thanks! This is a really great deal. The only other thing I would mention is that there is a $2.50 minimum drink order.

Try Dona Emilia's @ San Jacinto & Cesar Chavez for breakfast or lunch. A lot of items under $8

Thanks Don_ya. I was beginning to think no one was going to respond. I'll check out Dona Emilia's.
