affordable dinner downtown?

alkylyou Oct 13, 2008 03:45 PM

hitting the echo tomorrow night.
looking for a great affordable dinner spot for two in downtown.
specifically, i heard about this place a while back that was a nearly blank storefront that housed two sisters running an italian restaurant, but i don't remember where it was/what it was called.
if anyone knows this place or has any other suggestions, let me know!

Any ideas for a Monday night, walking distance of the Biltmore at 5th and Grand (where we 3 co-workers are going for a cocktail, first).

Colori would have been perfect if open.

Not downtown , but you might want to check out The Park down the street. Surprisingly good food, especially for the money.

Not 2 sisters but maybe this is what you're thinking of?

I totally vouch for this place.

HOWEVER, I think they are only open for dinner Wed - Sun.

it sounds like this might have been it and yes, they're only open for dinner wed-sat.
            thanks for that though.
            any other suggestions?
remember, i'm looking for reasonably priced food.

Have you tried Tranquility Base? How about Wood Spoon, the Brazilian restaurant on W 9th St.?

Have you been to Tranquility Base recently? How was it?

I enjoyed Tranquility Base when it first opened. I know that it recently tweaked its menu (to include a brunch, among other things), so maybe it's better, dunno.

Just an update to say that Tranquility Base has crash landed. They closed their doors and put up a word about the closing on their old web site saying the economic melt down did them in. http://www.tranquilityla.com/

The restaurant business is an easy way to make a large fortune smaller....

that's unfortunate. however, every time I tried to go, the outside patio was closed for a private party. like 4 times. i stopped trying.
