Hi there -

I did some searching through the boards but wanted to get more varied opinions on my situation. I am taking my boyfriend out for his 23rd birthday this Saturday night and am having a really hard time deciding on where to go! We are both non-adventurous eaters but enjoy drinks/wine with our dinners. He has mentioned he may want to try Oceanaire, but we usually prefer to go to restaurants that are not chains (except for having to try Fogo de Chao last year!). Some of the nicer restaurants we have been to most recently include Tosca, Grapeseed and Willow.

I would prefer to stay in DC (with parking or affordable valet), Arlington, or Old Town. Romantic atmosphere isn't necessary since it is a birthday, but a restaurant with a good bar (or one close to it) would be good for drinks after/before dinner.

While I would be willing to spend up to $125 or so for the both of us, I welcome recommendations for places that would be less than that also! Thanks!!

  1. Tallula in Arlington, perhaps? Lots of choices for the picky, and a nice drink menu.

    1. Have you looked at Hudson's menu? It's a festive atmosphere with a nice drink list and sort of updated takes on classic foods, so I think you'll find food that you like without it being mundane.
