Damn fine burger at Celebrity Pizza, Watertown

finlero Oct 13, 2008 08:20 AM

Thanks BarmyFotheringayPhipps and Allstonian!

My cheeseburger was just as you described, a griddled fast-food-shack-style affair. Wrapped in paper, great flavor to the meat, nice soft bun, fresh toppings. Only minor gripe was the somewhat pale tomatoes; everything else was right on the money.

Excellent thin-cut fries, again cooked to order.

My 6-oz super cheeseburger was $4.15. Combo with fries and a coke was just over $7. I'll definitely be back.

Thanks for the props! However, I have to give credit where credit is due - we discovered the joys of Celebrity Pizza last summer after reading older comments here from several other Boston Hounds, particularly Luther and itaunas. More often than not, my tastes don't match up very well with Luther's (and even in this case, I love exactly what he dislikes about Celebrity's onion rings, that they're the fine-cut "onion strings" type), but Barmy and I have been very happy with Celebrity.

here's a crazy question: how's thier pizza? i got a pie from d&a pizza on watertown st. in nonantum the other week and it wasn't bad. pretty traditional - the crust didn't flop around, nor was it like a cracker. more italian than greek, which is what i like.

I don't know about Celebrity's pizza but right down the street is Stella's Pizza. We love Stella's thin crust pies.

It's pretty solid. Certainly 10X better than any Greek pizza. You may prefer Stella's down the street, but I find Stella's to be a little dry and underseasoned (similar to Armando's).

Others have seen fit to praise the fried clams here, as well....

Damn fine burger at Jay's Ice Cream in Malden. Went the other night, and I may have mentioned it before, but it is still really good. Hand made; no patties. And the ice cream is a nice treat to further treat the tastebuds.

This is very amusing to me because I've lived within walking distance of both Celebrity in Watertown and Jay's in Malden. We frequented both places for their soft-serve ice cream. I never tried the food at Jay's, but the ice cream was definitely tasty.
