Dim Sum anyone?

Just got back from San Francisco and have visions of pork buns dancing in my head. Any place around these parts for Dim Sum? Thanks!

I know there are good dim sum places in N. Jersey - but how about further south ie. Toms River/ Manasquan/LBI area?

One comes to mind in Brick NJ on Rt 88 called "DIM SUM 88" chinese restaurant... it's not a traditional walk around Dim Sum but instead they have all their Dim Sum specialties on a special menu which you order from & there are many besides their regular menu.

In pleasantville, outside of Atlantic City, is the Joy Luck Palace that serves cart-style dim sum untill around 3 PM daily. Been there twice and both times very good.

For fresh pork buns try the Kam Man Supermarket in Edison. It's on Rte 1 North. They make it fresh everyday. Get there by noon and you'll see them coming out of the oven!

            lol.

These are big parts - you'll have to narrow it down a little.

If you're in S.I., the most choices for dim sum places will be in Bklyn on 8th Ave in Sunset Park. Mebbe try the outer boroughs board for a good recommendation, I haven't been to any of the places recently.

Second to TomT recc. If I lived in SI and could get out earlyish in the am on a Sunday, I would definately go towards Brooklyn or even Manhattan rather than NJ. If you are really close to the Outerbridge, then I guess that the rt 1 and 9 joints would be an option in NJ.

Wow, I've been to that place on 8th Ave. in Brooklyn - I think it's called "House of Dumpling". The place is always packed so you have to order fast, and you can't ask questions cuz no one speaks English. Great dumplings though, many kinds of filling. They also sell them packaged frozen - 25 or 30 dumplings for $5!

We like Jade Isle in Scotch Plains. Depending where you on Staten Island, it can be within one hour. We go only during week-ends, so I am not sure whether they have real dim sum during the week, but they have a somewhat limited dim-sum menu you can order from at any time.
