Kid friendly breakfast in mid-town?

We are going to be in the city (56th/Lex) this weekend with our 2.5 yr. twins. Any ideas for a breakfast place that will be open early, kid friendly and still good food? I know there is a diner-like place on 57th nearby, but it is not very good.

sarahbeth's on central park south (59th st., 3.5 blocks west of lex) is kid friendly, close, and very solid. they open at 8 a.m. on weekends. menu here: http://www.sarabethscps.com/menu_brun...

i personally would not go to penelope with children since there is always a long line on weekends and the seating is pretty tight. i haven't really seen any children older than infant age there at brunch.

I don't think there would be a wait at Penelope until later in the morning when the brunch crowd starts to arrive. But, perhaps, you are right and Sarabeth's is a better idea, especially since it's closer to where they are staying.

how about pershing square? right off of 42nd btw lex and park. separate booths and at that time in the morning you need not worry about your surroundings,
I have a 2 yr old and if i were in mid-town and needed to have breakfast i would probably go there. it's a whole nother story if i were by myself, but i'm sure you know the deal.

If you're willing to take a short cab ride, I'd suggest Penelope, on the corner of Lex & 30th St. Good food, kitchy decor, and family-friendly. They open at 8 a.m.
