Best lemon pound cake in NYC?

Barcelonian Oct 10, 2008 12:36 PM

I have a co-worker who loves lemon squares and gets one various times a week from starbucks. It's her birthday soon and I'd love to surprise her with a great one.

Lemony desserts aren't my favorite so I have no clue where to go.

Any suggestions?

Bouley Bakery makes a great lemon pound cake. Not sure about lemon squares.

I was just about to post that. I'm not normally a bouley fan or a fan of lemon cake but their lemon cakes are HEAVENLY. (I think you can get a smaller one).

Yes, they are good (a bit too sweet for my taste, however). I never got it at Bouley Bakery but received it at the end of my meals at Danube and Bouley.

Not quite lemon, but I also like Steve's key lime pies. They may carry it at a few shops in Manhattan. I've only had it at the 9th Ave Food Festival.

thanks so much everyone! I'm definitely going to try Bouley Bakery - and it's even close to where I work so it's perfect.

Definitely Bouley! I think their lemon pound cake is delicious and their Lemon tart is the best in the city.
