suggestions for pre-marathon carb loading
I'm coming from Baltimore, with my sister from Atlanta, to run in the marathon next weekend. We'll have a total of 7 people for our pre-race dinner on Saturday evening. We'd like to eat on the early side, so I don't imagine reservations will be a problem, since we'd like something casual too. Of course, Italian - on the traditional/Southern side - would be ideal. We are staying in Union Square but would like to eat in a different neighborhood. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
I'm not sure what the constraint is here. Do you want excellent pastas? Or large servings cheap? Or something in between?
When I hear "carb" and "loading" I think of Bucca de Beppo's near Mosconi, but it's not a place I would *recommend*. It's not bad, it's just not good, either. It's in the large-pasta-cheap category.
