STL: Joey B's

On Hampton Avenue where the old Bartolino's used to be. Joe Bonwich gave it a good review, but if I'm reading right only a half star rating out of a possible five. Anyone been there.?

Looks ordinary and more of the same to me. Big portions, lots of caloric dairy products, mostly fried apps. So what if if only got a half star, or whatever. If it appeals to you go for it and find out for yourself. It's not a major investment.

I am assuming you are talking about this review?

I don't see any stars or star ranking at all.

Based on the pictures and comments, it looks pretty good!

I thought so, too, FOTD, but look on the top of the review. It has a half star. But this was in the St. Louis Post Dispatch.

I'm not sure I know what you mean when you say "but this was in the post dispatch". If it was a review by Joe Bonwich, you can usually trust his opinion. But if it was a reader's rating...I would go find out for yourself.

Joey B's is indeed this week's featured restaurant review by Joe Bonwich in the Post Dispatch. It was a bit hard to find in the online edition, not in its usual featured place. He was generally favorable -- big portions, good value, tasty food. But once again I am grateful for him saving me the trip by specifying that they allow smoking.
