I was looking at an old Minnesota Monthly and they were advertising an artisanal cheese festival/convention/gathering put on by midwest dairy. I was wondering if anyone knew if that was an annual event or if there is anything similar. Would love go check out local artisanal cheeses.

What issue was that? It may have been referring to the American Cheese Society's Annual Conference which was in Chicago this past July-- but I don't think Midwest Dairy was putting it on. There is a Festival of Cheese associated with it that was mentioned on the Chicago board, but when I tried to post about it on this one, my posts kept getting removed.

It also may be The Great Wisconsin Cheese Festival in Appleton, which takes place every year. Not really "artisanal" but a great cultural spectacle!

If those are not the events, post which issue of MM it was, and I'll look more into it.

It was the January 2006 issue. The advertisement (not an article) was for the Art of Cheese.

Now that I look at it more closely, it is for a booth in the Food and Wine Experience. So it wasn't a convention but a booth in part of the convention.

Now what needs to be organized is an artisanal cheese fair. Yum.

Have you tried Stickney hills(goat cheese) in Kimball MN or Eichtens(goudas) in Chisago City?
