I would second Nola. You should probably make reservations as well.

If you are walking off the ferry you'll notice the Streamliner Diner draws the biggest tourist crowd. Decent food, not sure its worth waiting in a long line for. Cafe Nola is very good, way upscale compared to the Streamer and is at the other end of the street. Make a left at Cafe Nola and head for the marina district down the hill about a block you'll find Doc's Grill serving breakfast with a great view of the water & boats, again, pretty decent chow. A later opening also in the marina district is Harbour House Pub to the west of Docs a couple hundred yards for lunch menu only with an even better harbor view. If you are driving also consider the Salmon Canyon Cafe on the south end of the island at Lynwood Center. Weekends here are all about breakfast up until closing at 2pm, nice creative specials and very modest prices. Bakeries & coffee abound everywhere as well.

You're right about Streamliner, Chaps. Long line for just okay food. The place used to be much better than it is now.
