Jamaica Plain lunch rec for Saturday after CSA pickup

I have joined Stillmans Meat CSA and the 1st pick up is this Saurday at the JP Farmers Market, located in the Bank of America parking lot behind Center St.

I do not know the area at all and would appreciate your favorite places that serve lunch.
I will be on a limited time frame, so places within walking distance would be most appreciated. Thank you.

I agree with the JP Seafood and Costello's recommendations. The Real Deal, which is next to the fire house on Centre Street near the Monument also has good sandwiches and half-way decent burgers. I would stay away from Bukhara or Wonder Spice, though.

Casual cheap lunch and brunch can be had at Costello's. If it's after 1PM or so, the line at Centre St. shouldn't be as bad, both lunch and brunch I think. A few blocks down, I like Bon Bon on the corner of Centre and Pond.

True, and Costello's has a pretty excellent burger.

Costello's is a great spot to hit for pub-style food. Burgers ARE great, hand cut fries are delicious, pretty much all the apps/sandwiches are good. I tend to like it better there for dinner vs lunch just cause it's kinda dark with no windows and feels more like a night-time place for me..

If there is no line at Centre St Cafe that's where'd I'd go. Purple Cactus and City Feed are both great choices for sandwich/wrap and some people watching (counter service at both but they've got seats overlooking Centre St)...

Ended up having a big breakfast before venturing to JP, but took a quick walk and scouted out all of your recommendations. Will report back as I try them . Was able to locate all but Costellos....what is that near?

It's a few doors down from the Indian rest., before Blanchard's.

Yeah, it's actually right next to where your pick-up was, I think. You must have been too close to it. )

Centre Street Cafe is within a block. I'm not sure if it's a brunch or a lunch menu . . . but it's always good. JP Seafood Cafe, also on Centre St., is a good sushi & Japanese/Korean place. City Feed, I haven't been to in their new location, but it should be very good, again!

Right across the street, you have Purple Cactus (I recommend the chicken burrito or any quesadilla) or the new City Feed (had their ham sandwich today). A few steps north is Same Old Place, good pizza and subs.

The burrito bowl at Purple Cactus also has a lot of simple fresh ingredients for a good price.

Cheap and fast and decent - Wonder Spice Cafe for Thai and Cambodian -
I also like the Bukhara lunch buffet, but I think I am in the minority.

I think the place that Joanie is referencing below is actually called Bon Saveur.

Too bad Cafe D is now closed - *sniff* - that would have been the perfect spot.
