Dessert around Union Square

dick980 Oct 8, 2008 10:45 AM

Hope y'all can help me out on this one - one of my coworkers is having a bad day, and I was thinking of faking her out for a mid-afternoon break for a treat (like cupcakes)...we work in Union Square, so I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good place around here to grab a quick treat.

Thanks in advance for your help!

In addition to Kathryn's list, City Bakery and Petite Abeille

Oh, Lucia! City Bakery's double chocolate cookies are to die for! Now I won't be able to get them out of my head. :-) Sigh...

Thanks for the help, we went to Grey Dog and had pumpkin pie :) Decent, but a huge portion that we easily split.

Bakeries and coffee shops with pastries nearby:
      Grey Dog
      Joe the Art of Coffee
      Tarallucci e Vino
      71 Irving
      Amai Tea and Bake House
      Spoon / Tablespoon
Madeleine Patisserie (a little further away)
      The Adore

Actually a great afternoon treat might be olive oil gelato at the bar at Otto, too.

I second Tisserie for the location and selection though my fave there is actually the Venezuelan hot chocolate. I hear the Venezuelan chocolate brownies are great too.
