Dinner Recs Near the Gaylord

I'll be attending a conference at the Gaylord Hotel/Conference Center and would like some restaurant recommendations for a birthday dinner for six people relatively nearby - I was thinking that taking the water taxi to Alexandria would be nice. I figured I'd have already done the Gaylord's venues while conferencing. I don't want to spend a huge amount of money, maybe $50 - $60 pp, since the official celebration with my sweetheart will be the following night at Komi. Any suggestions?

Old Town Alexandria is probably your best choice. I would suggest Overwoods. It's in your price range. Fried green tomato appetizer is good and so are the salads. Has great steaks and also fish. The Elvis Pie is an unbelievable dessert. It's a pretty close walk from the water taxi as well. If you get over there early and it is still light out I would suggest a cocktail at the Chart House, overlooking the Potomac (don't eat there, though. It's expensive and not that good).
