Milon vs. Pana II Garden Indian Restaurant -- which is better??

I want to take my friend who's visiting to one of these two Indian restaurants -- Milon or Pana II Garden -- near 6th St. in the EV, but they both appear to be almost identical.

I know they're both right next to each other, BYOB, cheap, decent Indian food (depending who you ask), and jam packed with bright lights, adding to the slightly cheeseball/ charming ambiance (which in this case, is what I'm looking for).

However, I don't which one I should go to tonight... can anyone please tell me some of the biggest differences between these two places? And which one they would recommend??

Thank you!

  1. I don't know who's been telling you that Milon is good, but I would not go to them for recommendations anymore. The place is terrible and if Panna II indeed has the same owners as Milon, I would steer clear of both. There are many other good, cheap options in the EV.

    1. Panna II is solid. My boyfriend, who traveled through India for 6 weeks, says that the food is pretty authentic. We like the malai kofta (vegetable balls). Also, it is very affordable and the portions are decent.

What else did you have besides the malai kofta? Having now gone through the menu and noticed its creative use of misspelled Indian words and descriptions that bear little resemblance to classic dishes like murgh makhani or chicken malai but are nearly identical to the menu at Milon, my doubts about this restaurant are pretty solid.

      2. Madras cafe is close and much better then either one of those.

        1. Try Havalli. Milon needs to really "clean up" their act.
