San Diego - ice cream

Just want to give a thumbs up to Extraordinary Desserts for their strawberry cheesecake ice cream. stopped in today to get a double kona coffee to go and noticed that a special was the ice cream. it was terrific.

Saw the long line for ice cream at Mariposa's during the Adams Avenue Street fair and made a mental note to go back when it was less busy. Thanks for the reminder! I've never heard of Niederfrank's but it sounds awesome!

I believe that Mariposa has the best Ice Cream in San Diego, it is all made on site, they have a variety of flavors, and for the price of a scoot at ED, you could feed a family at Mariposa. SD MAG voted them best icecream in the region.

I don't much care for the taste of Extraordinary Desserts cakes too much -- beautiful to look at however. That said, their salted caramel ice-cream is the stuff of dreams and by far my favorite ice-cream I've ever had anywhere, ever.

I have to agree that Extraordinary Desserts does a very good job with their ice cream. I find most of their desserts a bit over the top for my tastes, but I've had their mango and strawberry ice creams and thought they were exceptionally good. Not my first choice if I'm after ice cream, but the best choice for me if we're stopping in E.D.
