Spice Route Asian Bistro & Bar
My partner just made a reservation for us at Spice Route Asian Bistro & Bar. Neither one of us have been. Have any Chowhounders eaten here that can share your opinions? What would you recommend ordering and avoiding? Thanks so much.

I've been to spice route numerous times since it has opened, mostly for drinks.
They have a very good afterwork and night scene there, but the food, well....its pretty bad.
The portions are large, and the food is cheap, but i find that almost every dish I have tried is on the bland side. There's no spice at spice route.
The sangria is good, and the wine selection is already outdated (says the waiter), with most wines not available.Go for drinks, skip the food. honestly.

Avoid eating, go for drinking if it's your type of crowd. I had terrible service and average food at above-average prices. The washrooms are interesting, and, again, if you like the crowd that surfaces for drinks, you'd probably enjoy going there for drinks. Otherwise, it's definitely an avoid for me.

We were there on a Thursday night a couple of weeks ago, and it was just as we expected it would be. Beautiful space, good drinks, mehhh food. I would stay away from the "kobe" beef carpaccio. It was not shaved as carpaccio should be and was rather chewy; worse than cold cuts. The lamb chops were good, but very meagre portion size. The pad thai tasted as though it were made with ketchup. Our favourite dish was garlicky bok choy, which was really good actually.
I'm sorry I don't have more positive things to say. I do recommend it for the lovely space and beverage list though.
