Two new Restaurants on Atlantic Ave.
While doing the Antic today, I passed two new restaurants on Atlantic between Hicks and Clinton. A barbeque place and a pizza place. Anyone try them out?

The pizza place just opened on either Friday or Saturday, I believe. Seemed to have a decent crowd, when we left Waterfront ale House Saturday. Would have tried it had I known it was open before.
Where specifically is the bbq place? Name?

We tried the brick oven pizza place over the weekend. Apparently it's owned by the same folks who own Caffe Buon Gusto on Montague. The staff was very pleasant, but the pizza didn't wow us. We'll try it again in a few weeks after they've had some time to work out the kinks and see if it improves. By the way, they apparently intend to have a pretty extensive wine/beer list, but the license is still pending so for now it's BYOB.

We tried it as well. The pizza needs some work. The dough was too chewy and not crisp enough. I will say the salads were excellent--they have a nice assortment of salads and the tricolore was very good with a nice, light dressing.

Is this the place where the late lamented Morrocan Star (and more recently, the no so lamented Saana) used to be?

No - the pizza place is in the former Bouillabaisse/Soju/Dragon Lounge/Buck's spot.
The BBQ place, Dallas Jones, is moving into the Old Red Pepper takeout Chinese space next to Magnetic Field (RIP). Any reports of their West Village restaurant?
I peeked into the Saana shop a week or two ago, and someone's spending a ton of money doing a gut renovation. If it's still a restaurant, it'll probably be pretty nice.
One more new restaurant to note - on Henry St, just south of Atlantic, the old TV Repair shop has a building permit in the window for a restaurant and bar. Any ideas what that is?
