Are there any good places for brunch in the Union Sq. area?

Looking for good places for brunch around there. Plz don't say Dottie's because a hour and a quarter wait is really not worth it....

Well, you have just put a squash on the two best breakfast joints in the neighborhood. Seriously, everything else pales in comparison and it is fairly well known that Union Square is mostly devoid of Sunday brunch eateries.

I agree with Carrie.....if Canteen and Dottie's are both out, you should head to a different neighborhood. You could hop on BART to 16th ST and go to Bar Tartine - great brunch, and they open at 11 AM, so if you get there at that time, there is no line.

What didn't you like about brunch at Canteen? I think the eggs benedict there are the best in the city.

Agreed on Tartine's brunch but note it's only served Saturday & Sunday.

On that note, I think Canteen's brunch is also only Sat and Sun, right?

Correct. Canteen's brunch is Sat and Sun only.

Someone who doesn't like Canteen and Dottie's is not going to be thrilled with Tartine.

Ok... I must say the one brunch place that i was really impressed with was Universal Cafe.... Maybe that's asking too much for Union Square...

True, but the OP never said he didn't like Dottie's. He just doesn't like the long wait. I tend to agree....Dottie's is a good option if there is little or no wait, but I don't think it's worth waiting hours for. There are good breakfasts all over the place...

Thanks for making that list - for questions like these, that feature is quite useful!

I'll definitely give Tartine's a try... Thanks for the tip.

I think I got eggs for breakfast, and they were way overdone. I went there because Yelp recommended it, and I just felt it really didn't live up to the expectation... My girlfriend's dish was also a little bit off... I wish I could remember what exactly the dishes were, but it was months ago and we haven't been back since.

Daily breakfast buffet or Sunday brunch, the Palace Garden Court.
