I need a new gas range. Dual Oven?

I'm looking for a new 30" gas range. I want to spend less than 2k. I've seen that Maytag, GE and Frigidaire offer dual oven models. The Maytag looks nice with the smaller oven on top. The other brands have a smaller lower over. Does anyone have any exp with these, or opinions on these. I dont need a lot of bells and whistles, just want some powerful burners and heavy grates. I'd appreciate your commments. Any raves or horror stories with your brands, models of gas ranges?

  1. I've been fairly happy with my Maytag. I rarely cook with both ovens at once, but I like to use the upper oven (on the "keep warm" setting) to warm plates and to hold food and sauces while I'm finishing up a meal. The large burner works reasonably well with my wok - it's stable enough to stir fry without a ring, but I do use a ring when I'm deep frying. The downside is that the fire-ring is too large for my smaller pans - so a lot of heat would be wasted if I were to use them on it.

    The small burner in the back is nice for holding things at lower temperatures (e.g. slightly below a simmer) - but it takes a bit longer to bring things to a boil on it. I tend to use it to simmer liquids or hold sauces.

    On the other hand, the maytag over-the-range microwave has been a thorn in my side. Since I got it I've had issues where some of the buttons would stop working until I unplugged it and plugged it in again. (I had the panel replaced once, but it didn't help - I think it's a software problem.) And, in hindsight, I'd rather have a real, full sized hood over my oven.
