hamilton or robbinsville area

  • 6

Looking for a place to meet some friends. We are in Belmar area and they are in Rocky Hill - so we want to try and split some of the distance. Looking for good food and NOT a BYOB. Preferrably a comfortable atmosphere for 4 people to catch up and eat good food!

Thanks for your help!

  1. Spigola Ristorante http://www.spigola.net/ is right off of Route 130 South and close to the I 195 exit onto Rt. 130. The food is very good and the place beautiful but the prices, especially for drinks, are a little high. There are a number of chain restaurants (Outback, Longhorn, Ruby Tuesday, et al) in the immediate area and virtually all of them have liquor licenses.

    1. Very attractive newish restaurant and bar has opened in the middle of Robbinsville called Santino Bar One.
We have not been yet but have been to their sister restaurant called Villa Barone (a stones throw away) many times and have always enjoyed our meals.
I assume that Santino will be as good if not better. Here is a link to their website,

Oh and a few doors down from Santino's is Delorenzo's pizza which is great.

My son and I had lunch at Santino’s about a month ago and the food (sandwiches) was just okay. I think they’re more interested in being a nightclub than a restaurant.

Agree, Santino's is trying to be a "scene"...
Villa Barone is not a bad choice for Italian, it's on the corner of Rt.526/Rt.130 on the northbound side. I'd take it over Spigola.
Unfortunately, we have a lot of pretty mediocre places in our neighborhood.

I think Villa Barone is out because johnny200 very emphatically stated that he did NOT want a BYOB. Another option a little further down Rt. 130 S. is Alstarz http://www.alstarzsportspub.com across from and owned by Mastoris diner. There’s also Route 130 South - American Grill & Sushi http://www.130south.com but I’m not crazy about their food and I don’t eat sushi so I can’t comment on its quality.

since it was a casual dinner to catch up with friends, we ended up at a chain restaurant - just because it was easy - however - I looked at the menu for spigola and we will undoubtedly give it a whirl. It does look to be pricey.

              Thanks fo rall the input
