Gretchen Oct 3, 2008 08:03 AM

Does anybody know where to get the real thing or something close to it?

Danke und Prost!

If you can't find it in Brooklyn, I've also gotten it at Schaller & Weber in the Grand Central Market.

they definitely have weisswurst (Schaller and Weber) at Eagle Provisions. No need to go to Manhattan.

Yoiu might try asking at STAUBITZ on Court Street. If they don't have it, they may be able to get it for you. I have found them to be terrific on special orders.

I cannot promise you that they have weisswurst but I think Pete's Waterfront has it as part of their Oktoberfest menu

It's on the menu at Cafe Steinhof, on 7th ave. Haven't tried it there, though.

Can you describe the dish this goes on?

I haven't checked recently, but Eagle Provisions always had it in the past at their deli counter. It was the real thing.
