I'm usually free on Fridays, so I can get lunch anywhere in the city. I used to love all types of lunch specials -- whether it be midday prix-fixe meals at fancy midtown restaurants, or just a cheaper deal at my local rib joint. I'm eager to hear yours!

During the summer, my husband and I like to go for a late lunch at places that are usually busy, don't take reservations, and often have a wait. This summer, we enjoyed several trips to Ssam, and to The Spotted Pig, as well as Pearl Oyster Bar (an old favorite). They aren't specials, per se, though. I gather that Sushi Yasuda has a lunch prix fixe that is well-priced, but I haven't tried it yet.

Here's a list of prix fixe specials:
      Jean-Georges
      Perry St
Gramercy Tavern (1/2 sandwich and soup in the Tavern Room -- not advertised on their web site menu, but they will gladly tell you about it when you're there, selection changes daily, I think)
      Fleur de Sel
      Devi
      Gotham Bar & Grill
      Toqueville
