My friend is on long term assignment in Fitchburg, and I'll be working one or two evenings in Easthampton in a couple of weeks. I always look forward to eating in Northhampton, but this time I'd like to find a restaurant somewhere around the mid-way point. Any "cute towns"? Any "worth the detour" places? Any kind of food is OK, as long as it's good! I'm geographically challenged in Mass, just so you know...

Thanks

Greenfield would get you a little closer? Hope & Olive, People's Pint. Gill -- Wagon Wheel for road food. Turners Falls -- The Rendezvous, casual bar w/food. I've heard about Copper Angel on the Orange/Erving border, but haven't eaten there yet.

Looks like Hope and Olive is winning so far, although it's about twice as far for my friend than I. Copper Angel closed on Tuesday. A friend in Holyoke recommended Salem Cross Inn in W. Brookfield, another geographically imperfect choice.

Thanks for your help.

You should definitely try the Nashoba winery in Bolton MA, if you and your friend are still around the area. It's off Rte 2.
