Pizza N Such Claremont

There are two places I am planning on trying, Pizza N Such and Tutti Mangia. Any thoughts?

  1. Neither is exceptional. If it is Italian food you are looking for, try Aruffo's, one street over from Tutti Mangia in the Claremont Village. It is around the same price as Tutti Mangia but better service and much better food. The only problem is that it can be rather loud if it is busy. La Picoletta (also in the village, in the Alley next to Nick's Cafe) also serves a simple set menu every night. You can have a house salad, fresh pasta with your choice of up to four different homeade sauces, and a glass of house wine for around 14 dollars. They don't advertise so you'll just have to ask around until you find the right place. As far as Pizza N Such is concerned, I have never had a great slice there, although I'm not big on thick, meaty pizza (which I hear is their forte). Good bar and beer selection, though. Stay away from their goat cheese pizza. Hope this helps

    1. Pizza n Such...beautiful old building!!really nice..the pizza is ok ,lacks a whole milk , buttery mozzerella..I bet they spent so much on this beautiful building and sign that they need to catch up on some higher grade foods...Tutti Mangia is very good I believe...great prices and very fresh food...I go often..somthing new I would suggest is Spaggis in Upland on Foothill Blvd..same name but new owner..Chef Henry Gonzales came from Wolfes mkt ..very unique food and very very good..a bit expensive for the portions , but beautiful presentation . As far as Aruffos.... I was so unhappy when I went there I will never go back...everything tasted "frozen" and re-heated...service was so bad, I cant say anything postive about this place..but speaking of Claremont and if your in the mood for Spanish try Cafe madrid downtown Claremont...beautiful place..great tappas too!

      1. I'm agreeing with other posters here, Aruffo's is the place in Claremont for Italian. Great food, good prices, and...although it looks a bit pretentious...missing the attitude that I always get at Tutti Mangia. If you're looking for great pizza, as opposed to general Italian cuisine, head west to La Verne which is loaded with great pizza joints. Warehouse, Red Devil, Pizza Barn, Pizza n Stuff (no relation to Pizza n Such), and Mama Petrillos.

I like Pizza n Such, but don't go there too much anymore. Decent pizza, but not as good as La Verne's selection. Great room and atmosphere. Service is spotty and prices are higher than they need to be (as is most of the eating places in the Village).

        1. Another agree with the posts above, in that I like Aruffo's better. The food at Tutti Mangia is ok, but I've always had poor service there. We'll take job candidates or speakers there because it's a nice looking place, but the food and service at Aruffo's is better.

And I don't really like Pizza N Such. If you want good pizza in the area (NY Style), San Biagio is Upland is good.

          1. I prefer the thin crust pizzas at La Parolaccia. The toppings are good, not stellar, but their Crusts are *way* better than any in town, including San Biagio (Overrated to this ex-new yorker!).

Not Mozza by any stretch, but for this neck of the woods, a real find.
