BYO in Flemington/Somerville/Lambertville

Hello all!

I've tried to search on this topic but the screen fails to load when searching. (I did try though! : )

I'm looking for a restaurant that's BYO anywhere from Somerville to Lambertville. Any type of food and atmosphere. Recently, we have enjoyed Il Mulino and Fusion both off of Main Street in Flemington.

Thanks!

  1. MOST restaurants in Somerville-Flemington-Lambertville area are BYO, provided you're talking in-town. There are licensed places between these three towns.

Downtown Somerville - Alfonso's, Bank 34, Cedars, Choa Phaya, DaFilippo, Gabriel's, Main Street Bistro, Marino's, Origin Thai - I have listsed as byo (older list, subject to changes - I do not have info on the several Asian restaurants in town)

Flemington - in- town - Aikou, Blue Fish Grill, Californis Grill, Capo, Ciao Luigi (was il Mulino), Fusion, 55 Main, Matt's Red Rooster, Luca's, Market Roost, Orvieto, Shaker Cafe, Viva Mexico - there's also a Latino restaurant on Main St where UnclePete's was, I've forgotten it's name.

There are about another dozen byos nearby but out-of-town that have Flemington PO addresses.

Lambertville - Bukp's (?? - can't say if that's still open), Full Moon, Hamilton's Grill Room (thete's a wine bar next door), Lilly on the Canal, Manon, Moustache, No 9, Ota-Ya, Rick's, Siam Thai, Tida Thai, Cinco de Mayo.

This is the most complete list I have - others, feel free to add, update and correct.

Next to Lambertville is Hopewell which is home to Brothers Moon which is very good but my favorite is Blue Bottle Cafe. Here are some recent threads on Blue Bottle

Next to Lambertville is Hopewell? Who knew. I thought they were about 15 miles apart.

Pitterpatter, you're correct that these two towns aren't right next to one another (as are many towns in other parts of Jersey). However, by mentioning that s/he had already tried two restaurants in Flemington, it was pretty clear - at least to me - that the OP would be willing to try places in a fairly large geographical area.

When I drive from Lambertville to New Hope, it takes about 15 minutes. I believe it's a little over 10 miles.

            ambrose,

I think you meant to say "Lambertville to Hopewell." New Hope is directly across the Delaware River from Lambertville, which takes all of maybe a minute by car (unless there's traffic). And it's less than a 5-minute walk over the bridge.

            1. re: RGR

LOL! Of course, when the bridge is out, it takes more than 15 minutes to drive from Lambertville to New Hope. :-))

Hi Pitterpatter, Mapquest has Lambertville to Hopewell at 7 miles. Somerville to Lambertville is 26 miles. As the poster listed those two towns, as well as Flemington, I thought Hopewell would be right within that triangle of towns. Plus Blue Bottle is well worth the effort to get there.

Thank you all for trying to organize these small NJ towns in relation to each other. I am very familiar with all of the areas and they really are close to each other according to living in the country standards... Here, everything is 20 minutes away and right up the road : )

      2. The following list represents my personal favorites in the area you mention.

        da Filippo's in Somerville

        55 Main in Flemington

        The Ferry House in Princeton

        Za in Pennington

        Manon in Lambertville
I couldn't find a web site for Manon but you can find numerous reviews on line.

Finally, I agree wholeheartedly with Tom about the Blue Bottle Cafe in Hopewell. If I had to pick one restaurant from my list it would be the Blue Bottle (second would be da Filippo's). If you do decide to go there, however, definitely make a reservation, even for a week night.

        1. Thank you for your replies! I'm putting Da Filipo's, Viva Mexico, and Blue Bottle at the top of the list!

          1. Artisan Kitchen in Lebanon (on 22)
            Aristan-kitchen.net
Its a great BYO restaurant. Food is very wine friendly.

            Enjoy!

LAMBERTVILLE IS IN NJ, NEW HOPE IS ACROSS THE PEDESTRIAN FRIENDLY BRIDGE- AN EASY 5 MINUTE WALK. HOPEWELL IS IN NJ, IN THE NEXT COUNTY TO LAMBERTVILLE- A 20 MINUTE DRIVE FROM LAMBERTVILLE. BLUE BOTTLE CAFE IS WELL WORTH THE DRIVE TO HOPEWELL- BUT YOU BETTER MAKE A RESERVATION ANY DAY OF THE WEEK FOR DINNER.

I know this is an old thread but for anyone reading this be aware that Artisan Kitchen has closed.
