Recs. in/near Tempe for this weekend?
Hi, PHX hounds! I'm coming to Tempe/ASU for work for the weekend and would love some fabulous recommendations... price would be $20 max for dinner; $10-15 for lunch. (not including drinks)
I arrive tonight (Thursday) and won't be out of the airport until at least 9 p.m. (8:30 landing, rental car, luggage, etc.), so I need a late-night bite for starters!
I'm staying near the campus, the Four Points Sheraton at 915 East Apache Boulevard, but I'll have a car, so driving isn't a problem -- just not too far because I don't know how early I'll be done for dinner each night. Also, it will just be me, so please no places where I'll be the only person sans date. ... unless someone wants to join me, that is. :)
I'm game for just about any kind of food, too, so recommend away! The only place I know I'll be dining is a cute hole-in-the-wall frybread place in Mesa I found last time I was in the area.
one of the best burgers is the Chuckbox next to ASU..flame grilled things of beauty..
You need to get to Carolina's by the airport for some of the best Mex..super cheap and super good.
Good friends live in Tempe so we end up always at Casey Moore's at ninth and ash..why do I become the mayor of Tempe everytime I walk in there..this place is my all time fav.
Everyone has given you great advice..
I was in town for the Native American Basketball Tournament and was sent to Arizona Native Frybread by folks running the show.
It's probably not a secret ... and it wasn't the cleanest lobby in town, but the indian taco, hominy stew and dessert were de-lish.
