Lookout Hill Closed?

Just curious. BBQ joint Lookout Hill has paper up on doors and windows. Closed already? It's only been a few months. Is that corner cursed?

Yes, it seems to be cursed with perpetually mediocre restaurants. It would be interesting to see what would happen if a decent restaurant went into that place.

That's the fourth place to go under in that spot since 2002 -- Bibi's, Night and Day, Biscuit and Lookout Hill. Wow!

I thought Bibi's was decent and they had one particular chicken sandwich that I quite liked (can't remember what it was now), but it was just the wrong restaurant for the neighborhood.

Night and Day, I thought, could have been great. But our one dinner experience (just three weeks after they opened) was ABYSSMAL! (We did go back for brunch one other time and it was decent, but nothing to write home about.)

And the two BBQ places -- well...never mind.

Its a prime location, I can't understand why a restaurant can't get their act together in that spot!

If only someone would open a great Chinese place..

that would be wonderful...or even a good bbq spot, oh wait that didn't work two times in a row..

It will be reincarnated as a sushi place or a French bistro. It's inevitable.

Honestly, given the trends, we'd be lucky for it to be a sushi or French place. In all likelihood it will be another real estate office.

    2. i walked by the other day and there was a sign that said something like "Deliveries for Playa's Cuban Joint" please use door around the corner.

so, it seems like this is going to become a horribly named Cuban restaurant of some sort.

I never made it to Lookout Hill for dinner, but I did go for brunch once, and it was actually very good.
      too bad.

It's a spin-off of Barrio - same owners - with an emphasis on seafood. The bar is open now; kitchen set to open in three weeks, as I was told.

A seafood place would be a welcome addition to the neighborhood. I found Mary's Fish Camp to be thoroughly mediocre.
