Restaurants in Stratton, VT area

My wife and I are spending a weekend in the Sttatton area (Peru, VT actually) in late October and are looking for a nice restaurant to go to for dinner. We are looking for good food and wine list, romantic setting/ambiance is a plus. Does anyone have any res, we are not at all familiar with the area.

You may want to search the board using "Manchester VT". There are many restaurants there and Manchester is about 7 miles from Peru.

Johnny Seasaw's located on Rt 11 (Vt) is within your range (Peru) from my experience. It offers/ed very good food and a pleasant relaxed atmosphere. I've not been there in over a year but previous visits were all good and they extended over many years.

Verde. It sounds like this is the place you are looking for. Located at the base of the mountain, Underneath the clock tower. Great food and wine, and stylish ambiance.

I second the recommendation wholeheartedly. The chef's really got some chops, and is committed to using fresh and local ingredients whenever possible. The service is knowing and professional without being at all stuffy, and I'd go so far as to call the atmosphere swanky – not something you'll find anywhere else around here.

If you go, be sure to sample the chef's house cured salumi, and do try the bacon ice cream. You heard me right – bacon ice cream.
