King Fung Garden has Reopened

They were closed for one day for "cleaning".

I guess that "closing" might not have been the greatest word. I went there prior to closing and this is the story I was told:
The previous owners of King Fung in Chinatown sold the restaurant to another family and did indeed close. The chef has now joined his wife in their Brookline restaurant (creatively named King Fung Garden II) - they're consolidating into one space (which is larger and has a better kitchen).

I'm not sure that they knew that the new owners would go ahead and reopen with the same name and the same menu. I haven't been since the changeover, but I really liked the food there prior to them moving. Someone will undoubtedly post a review of post-changeover KFG soon.

As far as who is right or wrong... I guess it depends on whether you consider a change of ownership closing. The previous owners probably thought that they were when they sold the place.

dang. i wish i'd of known this.
The Kid and i were in CTown yesterday and because we thought all was good in the KFG world we went to Xinh Xinh (Wonderful as usual) thinking we'd Fung it at a later date. would of loved to of done a compare/contrast thing.

So has anyone been to the Chinatown King Fung since the change of owners? Or to the Brookline KF since the consolidation? I'm craving chow foon and trying to decide between gong to one of the KF locations or heading to Kantin to try theirs out...

I'm confused too. Is this still King Fung, or whatever is supposed to be moving in (I thought the article mentioned the owners selling the space..)?

They have indeed re-opened. I talked to the people at KFG earlier today and posted the info onto my blog...

So much for my farewell dinner there last Friday (braving the monsoon, no less). Oh well, at least I had a good meal, although the waitress and her forgetfulness drove me nuts.

??? All reports I read were that they were closing for good this past Monday. Did they temporarily re-open for a few more days?
