If you could only choose one restaurant in SF...

What restaurant would it be, and what would you order?

Zuni for lunch, Gary Danko for dinner. Besides the amazing food, the service at Danko always blows us away. Superb.

Gary Danko. It's not just the food, which is excellent. It's the warm atmosphere and wonderful service. Loved it.

Masa's. The last meal I had there (Sep 12) was perfect in every way!

We haven't had a detailed report on Masa's in a long time. Would you mind posting one in a new thread? Thanks!

I'm calling Gary Danko tomorrow for an upcoming trip to SF. Thanks for the vote.

Gary Danko, and if they're on the menu, the glazed Oysters with Osetra caviar, zucchini pearls and lettuce cream, and I think I once had it with salsify cream.

I called this morning for the 24th, nothing. Nov. 8th...10:00 p.m. Got frustrated & said I'll call back. DH's milestone birthday is 10/26.

Two months ahead, and don't wait until lunch time.

The best restaurant with easy-to-get reservations is Luce. We took two foodie friends there last night, had the tasting menu, and they were blown away. Dominique Crenn is going to get a lot of attention for her adventurous, soulful food. It bums me out that the restaurant isn't more crowded -- because of its location in a soul-less hotel, you don't expect miracles like the lobster paired with bone marrow that we had last night, or the porkbelly with pancetta and mushrooms, or....

                            I loved it.

If you want this restaurant to get attention, then do a separate post with the name in the title. This is fine here, but probably won't get the same attention.

Thanks for the tip but I think I won't follow it: I've posted so often about Luce that SFEater accused me of being a shill!

                          zuni for lunch.
half a dozen oysters and a vodka gimlet (straight up)
                          burger, medium rare/string fries.
                          maybe another gimlet.

Coi. The tasting menu (of course, that is the only thing you can order).
