Advice on Indian: Marigold? Veerasway? Bhabi's?

I usually head to India House on Grand for Indian food since they've always delivered a delicious meal, but I'm looking to branch out and I'm willing to travel (by El, bus, etc.) from downtown. I've heard Marigold, Vermillion, Veerasway, and Bhabi's are good places to try, can anyone point me in the right direction or give me some new ideas? Thanks!

how funky of a place are you willing to venture into?
Marigold is casual, but upscale Indian.
Vermillion - ditto, and it's also fusion with some mex/latino influence
    Never done Veerasway.
    Bhabi's is a joint.

Khan's bbq on Devon is usually my 1st choice for a simple meal in a simple setting.
A little more fancy would be Usmaniya on Devon.
Chopal on Devon would kinda be inbetween.
Gharab Naweez is the ultimate dive on Devon IMO - GREAT FOOD. GREAT PRICES.
2nd Fave dive would be Hyderbaad House (South side of Devon)
Are you looking for vegetarian? That would also be something to consider to point you in the right direction. Dive, a step up, or fancy? It's all in what you prefer. There are so many Indian restaurants to choose from!

I would say Bhabi's. There is also Treat in Humboldt Park.

My huband likes Tiffin on Devon because 1) it serves alcohol and 2) it has tablecloths.
Can't recommend Veerasway- it wasn't anything special.

I think it depends on if you want trendy vs. traditional Indian. I've been to all four of these places... and a half-dozen other Indian places in Chicago.

If you're looking for something a bit more slick and modern, but willing to compromise on food, I like Veerasway. The food is good, not great... and it's a good change from the usual Indian. Keep in mind if you like spicy, they're cooking for Western folks. You'll need to tell them to try to kill you to get anything actually spicy. (Our server and the manager both came over on behalf of the kitchen to see if "they did it right")

For more traditional... I'm actually NOT a fan of Bhabi's. They just catered a friend of mine's wedding and it was TERRIBLE. Even the lunch a big group of us had at the restaurant a few weeks before good at best. Tiffin always gets rave reviews... and honestly, we like Hema's for most things as well.
