Sonoma: Hardin Gardens - $2.15 lb for from-the-garden heirloom tomatoes and Biker Billy jalapenos

This farm stand gets better and better every year.

I've decided not only is it my current favorite farm stand, I like it much, much better than most farmers markets.

Located under a shady grove of trees in the middle of the field where you can see the tomatoes and other produce on the vine. If they run out of something you want, they will walk over to a nearby plant and pick some for you.

There are always at least 20 varieties of heirloom tomatoes. If you check the website, the standard price is $2.15 lb with the price dropping depending on how much you buy. For over 40 lbs, the just-picked heirloom tomates are $1 lb.

Everything else is so reasonably priced and fresh, fresh, fresh ... fresh.

I paid $7.25 for a few pounds af tomatoes, a gorgeous ORANGE spaghetti squash, some unique garlic and the Biker Billy jalapenos. Haven't tried the jalapenos yet, but they are supposed to have a hint of spice.

I forgot the garlic variety, but it is about the size of a small marble. I wasn't going home immediately so I had to pass on the stunning lettuce and amazing herbs (they has fresh sevia).

I was there too late on Sunday so they were out of their latest product, eggs. Very cute picture of the hens and their house with interesting info about the eggs

There are also many other charming pictures of the farm, goats and under the FAQ ... the cats ... "our ferocious guard cats (Huey, Duke, Pepe, Earl Grey, Big Kahuna and Kalua Pig) are often patrolling the property when not overwhelmed by...well...life, and thus needing a nap." Ok, I'm sappy. They make me giggle. Also that hen house looks just like the one my grandmother had.

They will be open thru the end of October. Wed, Sat, Sun noon-5pm.

On State Route 12 three miles south of the Sonoma Plaza.
1/2 mile north of the junction of State Route 12 and State Route 121.
