Brunch on Westchester

I am looking for a venue to hold a Sunday Brunch for my father's 60th birthday in Westchester (Preferably in New Rochelle). I am trying to keeo the costs to a minimum!!

  1. New Rochelle, huh? Well, unless they've improved eNORmously, stay away from MacMenamin's Grill. Can't think of anything else in NR.

On the rest of the county, Jackson and Wheeler stinks and Sunset Cove is only mediocre.

Not cheap, but Restaurant X in Congers is OUTstanding, as is X20. I've read here that Winfield's in Greenwich is very, very good. I've gone to Norwalk for a good brunch, too.

After trying lots and lots of them, I'm not impressed with the brunch offerings in Westchester. Oh, and I'm talking about a buffet.

agreed on rest x, and x20, brunch very good at both...MacMenamin's is horrible

    2. I would check out such spots at Mamma Francesca in New Rochelle, its open Sundays for lunch...La Riserva just up Rt. 1 in Larchmont which does have a reasonably priced brunch...and Artie's just over the border on City Island.

GR, Artie's does brunch??? A buffet? Does it include seafood? We just went there again last weekend for dinner, it is consistently very good. One of my new, very few favorites. Has everything I want.

Yes, Mamma Francesca is a good choice. I dislike La Riserva, and tried it twice. Service was bad, food was only average, and prices were high.

dolores, the poster wanted to stay around New Rochelle...these options are close by. La Riserva does do a 'brunch'...Mamma Francesca and Artie's do 'lunch' on Sundays...all reasonably priced.

      2. OP were you looking for a buffet brunch or just a brunch?

I think a buffet brunch is usually more moderatley priced. Someone also suggested the Radisson- any thoughts there?

If the brunch is in The City bada bing restaurant, I'd pass if I were you.

I've researched just about all the buffets in Westchester, and those that are cheap are crummy, and those that are top notch are verrrrrry expensive.

THE best, for the price of $38. a person, is Restaurant X in Congers.

            1. re: dolores

i agree, but please note, the waiters come around with all the food, it is not laid out buffet style..waiters come around with dishes, filling up your plates as often as you like

        2. Harry's of Hartsdale. For $20.07 per person you get a complimentary glass of champagne or a bloody mary, an app, a meal and coffee or tea. A pretty generous deal for $20 a head, I think. They have a web address and there is an upstairs that can be private for your group.

Further to Dolores' comment, X20 in Yonkers has the $38 price fixed brunch too, and it's fabulous. I also recommend, though same may disagree, with the brunch at Zanaro's on Mamaroneck Ave. in WP which is in the $20 neighborhood. They have a buffet with an omelette station, made to order pasta, fruits, veggies, cheese, carving station, desserts including a chocolate fountain. I held a private party there upstairs on the balcony to rave reviews, it was a great value for the money.

Another suggestion is Whitby Castle in Rye.
