Best New NOLA Restaurants?

What are your favorite new restaurants? Post-Katrina, opened last year, and opened this year? I'm new to the city (Tulane student) and am interested in how the dining scene is skewing these days. Anywhere too new for the guidebooks I've gotta try? I'm partial to dives and cheap eats...

MILA!!!! The amazing chef, Slade Rushing, came out to meet my friends and I last Saturday night. He was really nice and gave me this cool pepper vinegar as a birthday gift. The staff is interested in food and enjoy their work, which makes for an enjoyable dining experience. I had the duck with a tasty sauce, while my boyfriend had the pork. I had the lobster appetizer. Sweet and tender-not chewy like other places. A very memorable 30th bday celebration!!!

Third Mahony's and MiLa especially, but generally all the recs on this thread are great.

Hit the red taco truck on Claiborne near Washington. Good pupusas.
The Frostop on Claiborne at Calhoun is a TU institution--far from being new, it's the oldest joint in the area; basic dive, greasy hamburger stand food....good root beer, too.
Gelato Pazzo on Oak St. is post-Katrina; friendly neighborhood cafe with better food than you'd expect from a gelateria (even a steak night!)

I second the vote for J'anitas.

I think you'll like Mahony's on Magazine for poor boys.

I second Mahoney's and like Ignatius, Steins Deli, Stop9. All less expensive than my previous post.

I thought One was here before Katrina. Good either way.

I'll add Stein's Deli, Il Posto and St. James Cheese Co. to that list.
and in Old Jefferson, great weekday lunch specials and burgers at the Rivershack.
looking forward Rambla opening in the International House and Laurentino's opening in the Riverbend (Cafe Volage loaction).
