ISO nice 75th birthday restaurant

Its my FIL's 75th birthday. He's not so adventurous but the rest of us are. We're looking for a "nicer" restaurant north of Eglinton.

Celestin on Mt Pleasant is wonderful and it is only at Manor Rd, so it's not THAT far south of Eg. They have food that will satisfy traditionalists and those looking for something more interesting. The room is very elegant and comfortable. Their website is not a very good representation of the restaurant, but here it is anyway: http://celestin.sites.toronto.com/ And if the menu seems a bit stodgy and old fashioned, rest assured the cooking is not.

Thanks for the ideas. We ended up at Richlees on Avenue Rd and it was very good. Their seafood and rack of lamb was excellent. I will try Celestin. Been to Auberge and Scaramouche. Too fancy for their liking.

What's your price point? Auberge du Pommier is the perfect restaurant for 75th birthdays (took my MIL there for her's!). If you don't mind being just a little bit south of Eg, Scaramouche would be my other choice for special celebrations. Both, however, are on the pricey end of the spectrum.
