Wow. wow. wow. I'm afraid to rave too much cuz I don't want you travellers to have unrealistic expectations, but this is the real deal. In fact, it's so real deal, it's better than anything we've got here in San Diego. My HusbandChef always says that NYC still sets the dining standards for us all, so and it's no surprise that Cochineal is the baby of sophisticated outsiders who love Marfa enough to get its vibe but also deliver quality food and service. To read more about the food, go to http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/560824 and be sure to find out their hours before you go.

Well, I go through there at least twice a year, now I have a new mission on my next trip. Thanks for the tip!

And, I mean no disrespect, but NYC really doesn't set the standards for most of us. Don't get me wrong, I have visited and dined in Manhattan, LA, Chicago and other large cities. I just don't find the snarky food scene to be the center of the foodie universe.

The chef/owners of Cochineal used to run Etats-Unis on Manhattan's Upper East Side, so it's no surprise that the restaurant meets Manhattan or other foodie city standards.
